Since I started
1980 designing multi hull regularly I designed catamarans for different
purposes. Or I was drawing different concepts. This page covers some of
them.
The ZEEMAN is a
60 ft cat. The boat was designed 1990. Henk de Velde was sailing this boat twice
non stop around the world. After a collision with a freighter almost at the
finish of the first time, the boat was lengthened to 22 m. With the new sponsor
he was trying for a second time to break the solo non stop around the world record. He
missed by some hours. The hulls are strip planking constructions. The beams a
plywood/carbon/glass composite. The weight of the 60 ft version was 5400 kg. The
C 1000 is still sailing in the Netherlands
Back to the future The COMORANT is
a live on board cat. The boat was designed for a Dutch owner. Construction is
wood/foam/glass epoxy . This boat has any
possible comfort for 5 persons. For more info go to semi custom page.
This planing
cat was designed 1988. For the hull shape I used the data from Prantl. He made a
lot of tests for low power water aircrafts. The boat was also planing on the
wind as shown on the left picture. We where sponsored for one year by TENSON. It
is a pity I have had not enough time for this boat.
This was our
first cabin catamaran, designed 1983. Length 6,5m beam 3,2m. The boat was built
in three months. As you can see we used a parallel rig. This was a fast and low
maintenance and fun boat.
The KD 165 was
designed in the year 1993 for a South African customer. The boat is designed as
a very comfortable charter cat. Length 16,5, beam 9,3m. I have no idea if the
boat was ever build.
